Undergraduate Business Degree: Bachelors of Business Administration Major Areas of Study: Management, Marketing, General Business, and Accounting. In addition to the major area of study students may complete a minor (15 hours) in Finance minor.
Required Course
FINA 3101: Corporate Finance (3 hours)
An introduction to the principles of financial
management, including capital budgeting, the cost of
capital, acquisition of funds, and capital structure
strategies of the non-financial corporation.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 1241 or 1113 and Admission to the
School of Business.
Electives Courses: Four of the following courses (12 hours)
ACCT 3351: Intermediate Financial Accounting (3)
An in-depth analysis of recording, reporting and
disclosure issues for external analysis in the
contemporary firm. Accounting theory and current
professional standards are stressed. Content emphasis on
assets and liabilities with corresponding income
determination. Prerequisite: ACCT 2101 (B)
FINA 3100: Personal Financial Management (3)
This course is designed to give a student the knowledge
and framework for developing a personal financial plan
suitable for different stages of life. The course
addresses topics such as credit cards, housing,
investments, loans, and retirement planning.
Prerequisite: Junior Standing
FINA 4101: Investments (3)
This course is
designed to give student a greater knowledge on
portfolio management and analysis. Students will
understand the main features of various fixed income,
equity and derivative securities. Prerequisite: FINA
3101 (C)
FINA 4102; Intermediate Finance (3)
A
study of long-term and short-term financing and capital
structure decisions. Additional topics include working
capital management, cost of capital, capital budgeting,
mergers and acquisitions and international finance.

FINA 4103: Money and Banking – Domestic and
International Markets (3)
Study on the role of
Federal Reserve on money supply, interest rates and the
U.S. economy. Also study various financial markets, such
as money market, stock market, bond market and mortgage
market. Additional topics include the role of financial
intermediaries (depository and non-depository financial
institutions). Prerequisite: FINA 3101 (C)
