Business Administration Minor

Clayton State University students who are not enrolled in a BBA program (Management, Marketing, General Business, Accounting and Pre-Business) are invited to enhance their degree program with a minor in Business.  The minor is met through successful completion of the following requirements (18 Hours)

REQUIRED COURSES (15 Hours)

ACCT 2101: Principles of Financial Accounting (3 hours) Introduction to the concepts, principles and procedures pertaining to the preparation, analysis and interpretation of income statement, retained earnings statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements for service and merchandising companies with introduction to the measurement of inventory, receivables liabilities, long-term assets and stockholders' equity. Pre-requisites: MATH 1101 or 1111 or higher (D) or equivalent scores on the CSU Math Placement test.

ECON 2105: Principles of Macroeconomics (3 hours)

An introductory survey of macroeconomics principles; the scope and method of economics, basic supply and demand theory, money and prices, national income analysis, and economic stabilization. Pre-Requisites: MATH 1101 or 1111 or higher (D) or equivalent scores on the CSU Math Placement test.

ECON 2106: Principles of Microeconomics (3 hours)

Application of microeconomics principles to economic problems; the theory of production, market structures, income distribution, government regulation and business, labor organization, and international trade. Pre-Requisites: MATH 1101 or 1111 or higher (D) or equivalent scores on the CSU Math Placement test.

MKTG 3101: Principles of Marketing (3 hours)

An introduction to the activities involving the exchange of goods, services, and ideas for the satisfaction of human wants. The role that the marketing function plays in the determination of policies and strategies relating to product, price, channels of distribution, and promotion is extensively examined. Pre-Requisites:  ACCT 2101 or TECH 3111 or BUSA 3111 or BSUR 3111 or HCMG 3112 or HSCI 2111 or ECON 2105 or ECON 2106 (all pre-requisite courses require the grade of a C or higher)

MGMT 3101: Management Principles and Organizational Behavior (3 hours)

Designed to introduce basic principles and concepts of management that are applicable to a variety of organizations. Topics include a history of the study of management, underlying ideas of "schools of management thought," and functional and behavioral aspects of management and organizational theory. Pre-Requisites:  ACCT 2101 or TECH 3111 or BUSA 3111 or BSUR 3111 or ITFN 2123 or HCMG 3112 or HSCI 2111 or ECON 2105 or ECON 2106 (all pre-requisite courses require the grade of a C or higher)
