Become acquainted with graduation application deadlines and procedures.
Develop your resume. Get at least three people to review it including an instructor, a friend or family member, and a Career Services Counselor or Academic Advisor in the School of Business.
Start to think about your career path beyond a baccalaureate degree. Is graduate or professional school in your future? What is the job market outlook for your major?
Explore graduate and professional school if you think this might be in your future. Look into admission requirements, standards and application procedures. This is a great time to take any necessary graduate/professional school exam such as GMAT, GRE and/or LSAT.
Establish at least three professionals who can serve as references for you. Your references need to be familiar with your work habits and performance. Consider an instructor, advisor, supervisor, faculty mentor, organizational advisor, etc.
Attend and participate in a Business related conference or event sponsored by a student organization, career services or the School of Business.
Serve as a mentor to a first year student in the School of Business.
Participate in job fairs to explore the market, build your network and begin the job search process.
Utilize your friends, family members, colleagues or School of Business faculty and staff to assist you with mock interviews. Videotape the interview so you can critique yourself. The more practice you get the more comfortable you will be when the real thing comes your way.
Develop some generic cover letters for your resume. Get some input from Career Services on how to develop and present a cover letter.
Start a small savings account specifically for your job search. Travel, clothing, etc. can prove to be costly.
