Meet with a School of Business Academic Advisor to review your graduation application and requirements. Make sure the Registrar office receives it by the appropriate deadline.
Complete your degree requirements.
Update your resume. Always proofread it before sending it out to a future employer.
Read up on interview etiquette, dress, and questions.
Make sure you have proper interview attire. Whether you think dress and appearance should or should not be important really doesn’t matter, almost ALL employers do, especially in an interview. Visit Career Services to review your cover letter and resume to make sure it is ready to be sent.
Talk to your references to make sure they are aware of your upcoming job search and talk to them about the type of jobs for which you are applying. Updating them periodically throughout your search will help them provide better feedback to interested employers.
Participate in a comprehensive job search by utilizing websites, newspapers, and professional journals. Don’t forget to utilize the network of people that you have built throughout your college career.
Become familiar with Career Services’ on-campus recruiters schedule and job fairs. This could lead you to your next job.
Define the type of organization in which you want to work and compile a list of potential employers.
Keep in touch with the School of Business at Clayton State University.
Partake in as many interviews as possible. Only turn down an offer if you know for sure you would not work for the organization.
Keep an open mind throughout the job search process. It may not be a perfect job but it might be a good place to start.
Stay positive and be patient. A good job search takes time.
