First Year (Up to 30 credit hours)
Enroll in Clayton State University 1000B, Business First Year Seminar. This class will introduce you to the School of Business at Clayton State as well as solidify your choice of pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
Visit Career Services, Student Center 213, you will find a number of resources available to you that can help you explore your interests, values, and skills as well as how they can best fit into a career.
Get to know the School of Business community by attending and participating in events such as Town Hall Meetings, Cookouts, Conferences, etc.
Talk with faculty in the School of Business about your degree program, your career goals, and your academic plan.
Participate in a community service project. You will help others as well as yourself. You discover some hidden talents and abilities through your volunteer work. For information about service projects visit the office of Volunteer Services in the University Center.
Talk to a variety of professionals in the field about jobs that interest you. This will help you learn more about the business world.
Get involved in a student organization at Clayton State. This will help you develop skills in leadership, team work, organization and communication.
Meet with a School of Business Academic Advisor once a semester to discuss your academic goals and career aspirations.
Utilize the Center for Academic Success located in the lower level of the library to assist you in developing stronger skills for academic success.
Acquaint yourself with your professors; visit them during their scheduled office hours. Your instructors can be a tremendous resource to you now as well as later in life.
Find a faculty mentor in the School of Business. Someone you feel comfortable talking with should you experience stress and/or problems.
Introduce yourself to the Dean and the Associate Dean at school functions and events.
Find a reliable, supportive and positive upper-class student mentor. Some one you can talk to about your academic successes and struggles.
Take some time to explore the four majors offered in the School of Business. Think about what you want to do with your degree after college and what degree fits best in your career aspirations.
