Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I have a "MUST SEE ADVISOR" hold on my Registration?
All Clayton State University students are required to meet with their academic advisor once a semester prior to registering for classes. The “MUST SEE ADVISOR” hold indicates that a student needs to attend a meeting with their advisor. Upper class students, admitted into the School of Business will be encouraged to attend an in-class group advisement session.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments can be made on line through an on line program called Advisortrac. The School of Business Advisors DO NOT provide advisement via phone, email or walk-in. The earlier you schedule an appointment the better. Failure to plan ahead could result in you missing your registration time.
Things to do before your Appointment:
§ Check and take care of your registration holds (found in your student records in DUCK)
§ Print a copy of your Academic History in DUCK
§ Print a copy of your Curriculum Worksheet that meets your academic catalog. Using your academic history in DUCK complete the worksheet and bring to your appointment.
§ Read the School of Business Advising Syllabus. Pay close attention to the section titled “Student’s Responsibilities”.
§ Look at the class schedule (if available)
§ Make a list of classes you are interested in taking for spring 2009 as well as questions you have for your advisor.

It depends on your financial aid packet. Some packets require students to be enrolled a minimum of 12 hours per semester. HOWEVER, this is not a requirement for everyone. Contact the Office of Financial Aid directly for information regarding the policies of your individual financial aid packet.
When do I register for courses?
Registration dates are set in advance according to the academic calendar. Each semester there is a time period set aside for students to register for the upcoming semester. Time tickets windows are arranged by the Registrars Office.
Why do I get a pre-requisite error message when I try to register?
This message is an indication that you have not met the pre-requisites required to take the course. If you have not met the pre-requisites, you can not take the class. Every once in a while the registration system will not recognize a course taken at another university. If you have checked the pre-requisite for the course and know for sure that you have met them complete and submit a School of Business course override form. If we can verify that you have met, or will meet, the pre-requisite by the start of the term and there is space available in the class we will register you. You will be notified of enrollment through email within 48 hours of your request.
