What is academic advising?
Academic advising is a process that involves the student and a professional advisor in a one-on-one discussion concerning university curriculum, graduation requirements, academic planning and career development.
Why do I need academic advising?
- Get an update on new policies in the School of Business
- Review School of Business requirements
- Understand pre-requisite requirements
- Talk about your future academic and career goals
- Gain an understanding of the School of Business admission policies and procedures
- Receive assistance with course selection
- Ask about graduation applications, deadlines, etc.
- Talk about possible internships and/or study abroad opportunities
- Discuss job search strategies such as your resume, cover letters, the job market, etc.
Who is my advisor?
If you are a pre-business major, your advisor is Mary Coller. If you have been admitted to the School of Business and have declared your major, your advisor is Michelle Terrell.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment online through a program called AdvisorTrac. If you have difficulty using AdvisorTrac, please refer to the AdvisorTrac Tutorial or call (678) 466-4500
What can I do to prepare for my appointment?
- Bring a recent copy of your academic records from the DUCK.
- Bring your School of Business worksheet.
- Prepare a list of questions for your Advisor.
- Bring necessary paperwork, including graduation application, School of Business admission application, academic transcripts, etc.
