What can you do with a degree in Accounting?
Accounting is the study of how businesses track their income and assets over time. Accountants engage in a variety of activities including financial statements preparation, recording business transactions, computing costs and efficiency gains from new technologies, participating in strategies for mergers and acquisitions, quality management, developing and using information systems to track financial performance, tax strategy, and health care benefits management.
Accountants are often found working in groups as part of their responsibilities in preparing financial statements and/or auditing tax records. CSU provides experiences in classes for you to begin developing skills necessary to be a successful team player.
The field of accounting is constantly undergoing changes and updates due to new electronic systems and other innovative strategies being designed. If you want to get ahead in this field, you’ll have stay on top of current research and technologies.
In Business, especially accounting, it is important to develop, maintain and build connections with others in the field. Start in college by getting to know other students in your classes, join the Accounting Club, develop mentoring relationships with your instructors and attend School of Business functions. Today’s colleagues could be tomorrow’s business partners and/or customers.
