Supply Chain Management Concentration (click here for application) Effective Fall 2008
Clayton State University students are invited to enhance their degree program with a minor in Supply Chain Management. The minor is met through successful completion of the following requirements (18 hours).
REQUIRED COURSES (15 Hours):
MGMT 3101 (3): Management Principles and Organizational Behavior
Designed to introduce basic principles and concepts of management that are applicable to a variety of organizations. Topics include a history of the study of management, underlying ideas of "schools of management thought," and functional and behavioral aspects of management and organizational theory. Pre-Requisites: ACCT 2101 or TECH 3111 or BUSA 3111 or BSUR 3111 or ITFN 2123 or HCMG 3112 or HSCI 2111 or ECON 2105 or ECON 2106 (all pre-requisite courses require the grade of a C or higher)
MKTG 3105 (3): Introduction to Transportation and Logistics
The goal of this course is for students to understand the basic modes of transportation, the economic fundamentals underlying each and some of the ways in which today’s supply chain manager can use them to achieve improved efficiencies and cost effectiveness.
Prerequisites: ECON 2106 (C)
MGMT 3106 (3): Principles of Supply Chain Management
Covers basic principles of supply chain management and provides analytical techniques for inventory management, communication, warehousing, distribution, and facility location in modern supply chains. Prerequisites: MKTG 3101 (C) and MGMT 3101 (C)
MGMT/MKTG 4105 (3): Global Distribution and Air Operations Seminar
Global distribution and air cargo options are studied primarily by experiential learning. Students learn import/export basics and spend significant time in a work environment with freight forwarders, customs house brokers, and/or air cargo operation firms.
Prerequisite: MKTG 3105 (C) and MGMT 3106 (C)
MKTG 3850 (3): Operation and Warehouse Management (formerly BUSA 3800)
An introduction to the vast area of operations and warehouse management which has a profound effect on both manufacturing and supply chain management. The goal of this course is to present a broad and practical introduction to the field of operations management in a realistic and functioning manner and to understand how warehousing and strategic operational decisions impact the performance of a company and how warehousing adds value to a firms entire supply chain. In this exposure, the student will have a solid understanding of the role and importance operations and warehouse management plays in today’s global organization, thus providing them with a substantial part in their educational and career development process. Pre-requisites: ENGL 1101 (C), POLS 1101 (D) and CRIT 1101 (D)
