Degree Requirements
Each student will complete eleven graduate core courses of three semester credit hours each for a total of 33 credit hours, with a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0.
In addition, students who did not major in business for their undergraduate degree may be required to take between 1 – 4 semester hours in foundation courses to prepare them for the core courses.
Outcomes for the MBA program are as follows:
- graduates will demonstrate leadership ability and team building skills
- graduates will be able to manage successfully in a rapidly changing global business environment
- graduates will be able to identify and manage ethical issues and multicultural diversity
- graduates will demonstrate appropriate oral and written communication skills
- graduates will demonstrate the ability to evaluate the business environment, then choose and utilize the quantitative or decision making technique that is appropriate for the given situation
- graduates will demonstrate knowledge of supply chain logistics, accounting, marketing, economics, organizational behavior, finance, production, international and managerial issues and strategy
CURRICULUM
The curriculum of the MBA program is designed to prepare students for professional management careers by increasing their communication skills, broadening their appreciation of diverse cultures, improving their decision making, and reinforcing their ability to apply knowledge and skills in problem solving. Students also will develop a better understanding of the importance of ethical business behavior and corporate social responsibility. Upon completion of the program, students will have the capacity to lead in organizational situations and innovate to solve problems and to manage in unpredictable environments.
The curriculum is also designed to challenge students and to open minds to new ways to think about business issues. Courses will include lectures, case discussions, current business issues, and team projects. Students will take two courses a semester (including summer and a five-day May-mester course). Note: A research project (BUSA 6102) may be submitted in lieu of one of the core courses, with the exception of the Strategic Management course. Permission of the MBA Director and the advising faculty is required.
Foundation Courses (1 – 4 hours)
For students who did not major in business for their undergraduate degree, the Clayton State MBA program will offer foundation courses that will give the skills needed – in less than one semester. The foundation courses will be offered online in a streamlined, self-paced format that should facilitate completion of the foundation courses. Successful completion of the foundation courses will validated by the MBA Director.

Note: The foundation courses will only be required of students who did not take such courses in their undergraduate curriculums from an accredited university.
